This program has changed my perspective about life.... (more)
We can’t just be living in our own little world. I’ve learned that you can’t judge someone till you know everything about that person you're judging. Just try to understand it, or at least respect people's beliefs, cultures, and decisions
I believe it was a very eye opening experience, this should be mandatory for every teenager. I especially enjoyed how it wasn’t some boring article but someone’s personal experience, making each page more human and added to our emotions.
Long before I started this project I thought of Afghanistan as a cold-hearted nation with so many evil people, but now I see their lives and the things they must endure because of us. I now realize that they are people just like us except they don't have the care and aid we do. I simply want to thank you Dina from the deepest part of my heart for my new understanding and the compassion that you have shown them. I hope that this program continues to grow.
After studying about Afghanistan, I started regretting what I had thought about it before. I feel I lost those stereotypes which caused me to be ignorant.
It was less than a year ago that all this stuff with GSD got started and compared to today I was a different person. I was, am still almost always alone. Too afraid to go up and talk to someone new for the fear of rejection, even with those I already know. I have trouble being truly happy. But then I met the Afghan boys. They were displaced and alone in a war torn country, they could have easily given into anger and despair, yet they didn’t. They trusted in someone new (someone that they had barely met and from the country that was attacking them) and told about themselves. Hearing them share their hopes and dreams, their knowledge and history, they went from anger to understanding. Their leap of faith, taught me more about myself than nearly anything else.
I feel that this program will help the children of America better connect with the children of Afghanistan. I hope GSD continues to do this because it was very effective for me. You have also made me believe I can make a difference in the world. I personally think that this whole program has helped me become a better individual.
This program has made me care about the problems in the world. I'm inspired to learn more about other cultures that the news programs give a certain image to (i.e. dangerous, poor, etc.), to find the good in them and not judge these countries solely from the image the U.S. news give them.
This project has changed the way I think about things that i have and what the Afghanistan people don't have. The stories are very interesting and helpful for me to understand what is going on during your trip to Afghanistan. I like the videos because it is cool to see and hear real Afghans speaking! I love this project!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Close
