Suddenly, an interesting paradox caught my attention when I discovered that an Indian woman had held the highest political offices in the country— PRIME MINISTER and PRESIDENT. I wondered how a woman could rise to the most powerful position in the country if she lived in a culture where women were so undervalued and men so MYSOGYNISTIC.

Maybe that wasn’t the real Indian culture after all. And maybe— if cultures evolved with situations— the answers lied deeper in history.
